Crow Museum of Asian Art
AIDS Memorial Quilt Installation
Since 1987, the AIDS Memorial Quilt celebrates and memorializes the lives of those who have passed abroad from HIV/AIDS complications. The Quilt remains the largest community art project in the earth. Information technology has grown to more than than 49,000 panels on 5.956 blocks. Each block is 12 x 12 feet and made up of viii split panels. Afterwards decades of stewardship from the NAMES Project Foundation, the Quilt is now cared for by the National AIDS Memorial (NAM).
The Crow Museum of Asian Fine art and The Academy of Texas at Dallas School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Advice will display three quilts from the collection of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Ii of the quilts include panels memorializing those in the Asian communities who have passed from HIV/AIDS complications. An additional quilt that includes a panel from local Dallas citizen and activist Duane Kearns Puryear will also be on view.
These iii quilts volition exist on display in Gallery III of the Crow Museum of Asian Art from June eighteen through June 30, 2021.
AIDS Quilt Touch Media Arrangement Installation
The AIDS Quilt Touch Media System (AQT) is a research project of the Public Interactives Research Lab at the School of Arts, Technology and Emerging Communication at UT Dallas and the National AIDS Memorial. As the AIDS Memorial Quilt would require more than 18 football fields of infinite if information technology were to be physically displayed in its entirety, the AQT is the only way to be able to meet and feel the entire Quilt at in one case. AQT permits users to zoom in and out, from a bird's-middle view of the unabridged quilt to a larger-than-life size examination of individual memorials. From Fri, June 18 – Sunday, June xx, the Museum will offering Pride Cake Party participants $two off adult admission. Guests will be able to use the special code PRIDE21 to redeem the discount online or at the Museum's Guest Services desk. Access includes access to the Museum's permanent and special exhibitions, the "Voices of Courage" motion picture featuring Holocaust Survivor testimony, and the opportunity to experience the revolutionary Dimensions in Testimony ℠ Theater. Nasher Public: Jer'Lisa Devezin Kept Performances

Beaucoup Shive / Madam C.J. Walker ain't got nothin' on me is Devezin's get-go soft sculpture and her largest piece of work to date. To maintain the appearance of Beaucoup Shive… , Devezin will perform Kept one time a week throughout the run of her Nasher Public exhibition. Ranging from 30 to sixty minutes, Kept is a series of durational performances during which Devezin treats the sculpture with such common Black hairstyling products as beeswax and styling spritz, and using techniques similar hair rolling with hot water to ensure the sculpture maintains its overall shape and aesthetic while on view.
